Kitchen MUST Haves
Eating more vegetables is something we tell ourselves over and over again that we will do. I’ll admit, sometimes, veggies can be boring and bland; making it harder to include them into our daily meals. Luckily, these two simple kitchen tools just may be the solution to not only adding a little more excitement to your veggies but a whole lot of healthy to your life.
- Hand grater
Using a hand grater is the perfect tool to make a carb free “rice”. Grab a head of cauliflower, and move it alongside the grains in an up and down motion, but be careful, it’s a little messy if you go too fast. The texture should look and feel like soft rice without the extra calories. You can sauté the cauliflower and then roast it in the oven. Pair it with some chicken or fish, and you’re good to go. If you’re a vegetarian, you can make a cauliflower “rice” bowl by adding other vegetables.
- Spiralizer
Pasta is great but we know it’s LOADED with carbs and calories. Grab a zucchini or squash to give you a similar, but healthier alternative. Wash it and cut the ends off, place in between the spikes, turn the handle and watch as the vegetables turn to a spiral pasta like image. Sauté and grill on the stove for the perfect pasta substitute!
